Drury goes to 2-0 in GLVC with win over William Jewell

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury won their second game of the weekend with a 6-1 win over William Jewell on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
The Panthers improved to 8-6 and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Cardinals dropped to 4-13 and 0-2 in the GLVC.
 
Drury swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Leana Chanove and Eliana Weichel won their match 6-0.
 
The Panthers won five of the six singles matches and Ewa Samberger, Drury's lead singles player, outlasted Julia Rabiej in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Maria Fernanda De la Torre Ugarte Espejo improved to 9-2 this spring with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Maisie Markowitz.
 
Drury returns to action on Friday when they take on William Woods at noon at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
