SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury women's tennis had three named All-GLVC in a vote of the league's coaches.
Alma Abazi,
Ewa Samberger, and
Leana Chanove were named to the All-GLVC First Team in a ceremony hosted by the league on Thursday night.
Alma Abazi was named to the All-GLVC Team for the second time in her career. The Wiesloch, Germany native's last all-conference nod came in 2022. The senior has a record of 10-8 in singles, playing mostly in the number two slot for the Panthers. Abazi is 15-3 in doubles, playing with
Ewa Samberger in the number one position for Drury.
Ewa Samberger was named to the All-GLVC Team for the third time in her career. Two seasons ago, she was named the league's Freshman of the Year and last season was also named to the All-GLVC Team. Samberger is 12-3 in singles and the junior from Lublin, Poland, is 15-3 on Drury's number one doubles team with partner
Alma Abazi.
Leana Chanove was named to the All-GLVC Team for the first time in her career. The sophomore from Guilherand-Grangers, France, has a record of 11-5 in singles matches, playing mostly as the three for the Panthers. In doubles matches, Chanove has a record of 9-7 with playing partner
Eliana Weichel in the third doubles slot.
The Drury women's team was also honored with the conference's James R. Spaulding Team Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row.
Drury is 12-6 overall, 5-0 in the conference, and won the West Division in the regular season. The Panthers face Quincy on Friday in Springfield at the Cooper Tennis Complex at 12 pm (Central) in the GLVC tournament quarterfinals.
