Kristina Vestman led the Drury triathlon team, finishing 38
th in a field of 71 competitors at the Battle in the Fort, hosted by Texas Christian University, at the Marine Creek Reservoir in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday.
The Panthers finished seventh in a field of mostly NCAA Division I programs that featured seven teams. Arizona won the event with 257 points, Arizona State was second with 242 points, and TCU, ranked number one nationally, was third with 205 points.
Vestman, a sophomore from Sweden, completed the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike race, and 5-kilometer run in 1:08.18 to finish 38
th.
Mayumi Shinozuka was 48
th for Drury with a time of 1:11.54, and
Alexis Workman (1:12.06) and Isabella Buenting (1:12.21) were both right behind her in 49
th and 50
th, respectively.
Tarryn Brumley finished 57
th, crossing the line in 1:15.54.
Naomi Ruff from Arizona State won individual honors in the event with a time of 1:02.45.
Drury competes again on Oct. 12 when they host the NCAA West Regional Qualifier at Fellows Lakes in Springfield.
