SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its fourth poll of the spring season on March 5. Drury had one single player, and two double lines ranked, as well as the men's team.
Yaroslav Sharyy is ranked 21st in NCAA-II singles. Sharyy plays the top line for the Panthers and holds a 9-0 record. Sharyy has beaten two individuals that are ranked in this week's poll, with the highest currently ranked player being Cas De Ruiter from Harding who is ranked ninth.
Shrayy and
Lukas Rieber are ranked 13th in the initial ITA poll, which ranked NCAA-II doubles. Rieber and Sharyy are 8-0 This season from the top doubles line. The duo's highest-ranked win came against Harding when they beat the current 14th-ranked doubles team.
On the women's end,
Leana Chanove and
Ewa Samberger are the 26th-ranked doubles team in the nation. The combo is 9-0 from the one double line for the Panthers. Last week, the team beat the 28th-ranked doubles from Northwest Missouri State.
As a team, Drury Men's Tennis is ranked 19th in the country. The Panthers started the season as the 23rd-ranked team but dropped out following a loss to Harding. This is Drury's first return to the poll.
The Panthers will return to the court on March 10 in an exhibition against Collin County Community College during the team's spring break trip to Texas.
