SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Drury won their eighth straight match and opened Great Lakes Valley Conference divisional play with a 4-3 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
The Panthers improved to 9-4 and 1-0 in the GLVC, while the Bearcats fell to 7-6 and 0-1 in the league.
 
Highlights

• Drury took a 1-0 lead as they swept doubles play. Franca Piaggi and Eliana Weichel swept their opponent in the number three match-up, 6-0. Antanina Novik and Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa clinched the point with a 6-1 win in the number two match
• The Panthers built a 3-0 lead with singles wins from Leana Chanove, 6-1, 6-3 over Defne Ursane, and Eliana Weichel, 7-5, 6-2 over Leticia Luiz
• The Bearcats won the number five, six, and three matches but Drury earned the win as Ewa Samberger won the number one singles match when 38^th ranked Paula Ballesteros retired in the third set
