Santiago Nunez places in steeplechase; Lauren Coleman advances in two events at GLVC Track & Field Championships

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.— Drury men's distance runner Santiago Nunez placed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and women's sprinter Lauren Coleman advanced to the finals in two events during the second day of competition at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Track & Field Championships on Friday in Romeoville, Illinois.
 
Drury Highlights
  • Santiago Nunez placed sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, completing the event in 9:43.44
  • Women's sprinter Lauren Coleman advanced through the semifinals in two events. Coleman qualified for the conference finals in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.01, a mark that is third-best in Drury history. The freshman from Mustang, Oklahoma, then advanced in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 24.74
  • Caden Green advanced to the finals in the men's 110 meter hurdles and his time of 11.38 ranks third in program history
  • Nolan Moeller qualified for the finals in the 800 meter run. The junior from Ozark had a time of 1:55.29 in the semifinals
 
The Drury men's team is in sixth place in the overall standings with 22 points. Lewis is in first place with 61 points, with Indianapolis in second with 43, and Missouri S&T is in third with 35.
 
The Drury women's team is looking for their first points and is tied for 11th. Lewis leads the women's competition with 94 points. Indianapolis is in second with 70 points, and Missouri S&T is in third with 28.
 
The third and final day of the GLVC Championships is Saturday, and field events start with the men's and women's javelin at 9 am. The running events begin at noon with the women's 4 x 100 meter relay.
