Quincy fought off a strong Drury rally to down the Panthers 3-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference volleyball action Friday night at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
The Hawks won by scores of 26-24, 14-25, 25-18, 25-27 and 15-13 to improve to 11-12 overall and 5-5 in the GLVC.
Drury, in losing at home for the first time in seven matches this season, fell to 15-8 and 5-5.
The Panthers trailed 23-20 and 24-22 in the fourth set, but rallied for the 27-25 win to force a fifth. DU held a 12-10 lead in the decisive set, but watched the Hawks score four unanswered points to grab a 14-12 advantage and ultimately put the victory away.
BJ Specht had 22 kills and
Laynie Timmons added 18 kills to lead the Panthers, who got 42 assists from
Brooke Antenen. Specht had 24 digs and
McKenna Poynter added 20, while
Chloe Foster had five blocks to lead DU.
Bekah Raebel had 17 kills to pace Quincy.
Drury returns to GLVC play on Saturday at The O', hosting Truman State in a 3 p.m. start.
