Drury Tennis Teams Sweep William Jewell On Senior Day

Drury's nationally 15th-ranked men's squad and 20th-ranked women's team swept William Jewell in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Senior Day Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

The DU men defeated the Cardinals 8-1 while the Panthers women picked up a 9-0 blanking of WJC on a day when the programs saluted their lone seniors, Jorge Nadal and Stefanie Monsch, in pre-match ceremonies.

Drury completed its home slate and finished the GLVC regular season with undefeated league marks heading into next weekend's GLVC Championships tourney in Kansas City. The Panthers will take the top seed into both the men's and women's tournaments, with the DU women taking on Southern Indiana at 9 a.m. Friday at the Overland Park, Kan., Racquet Club, and the DU men facing McKendree at noon at the same site. Semifinals are Saturday and championship/third-place matches on Sunday in KC.

The DU men improved to 18-1 overall and finished 5-0 in the league, while the women are 19-1 and 6-0.

William Jewell fell to 4-15 and 1-4 on the men's side and 10-9, 2-4 with the women's loss.
