The Drury Baseball Panthers earned a GLVC split vs. Missouri S&T winning the nightcap 6-0 after dropping the opener 11-6 at Meador Park on Tuesday.
Drury moves to 17-17-1, 12-11-1 GLVC and Missouri S&T moves to 20-15 and 15-9 in the GLVC.
The victory in the nine-inning second game marked career coaching win No. 100 for Drury coach
Scott Nasby, who's now 100-47-1 in his third season at the Panthers' helm.
In the nightcap, an RBI fielders choice by
Conner Wilson and an RBI double by
Tyler Arthur gave the Panthers a two run lead.Â
Christian Magno singled in the third to bring home
Luke Tewes for a 3-0 DU lead.Â
Spencer Wilmes took advantage of a Miners error in the sixth to push the Panther lead to 4-0.
Drury tacked on two runs on three hits in the eighth inning for a 6-0 final.
Drury finished with 13 hits led by
Dallas Williams with three hits, two runs and an RBI. S&T finished with just six hits.
Austin Sims (2-2) pitched seven shutout innings and allowed six hits in the contest for the victory. Blake Stephens (3-1) received the loss for the Miners.
In the opener the Miners scored four runs on one hit and three errors in the opening inning for an early 4-0 lead. They added two runs in the second and added an RBI single in the third for a 7-0 lead in the seven inning opener.Â
An RBI walk by
Jacob Green in the Panther sixth got Drury on the board and scored Tewes. S&T added an RBI single in the top of the seventh for an 8-1 lead. The Miners capped off their scoring with four runs on three hits in the seventh for an 11-1 lead.Â
Drury scored five runs on five hits and an error in the seventh inning but could draw no closer as S&T claimed the 11-6 victory. Tewes and
Mike Rafter each had two hits for the Panthers who finished with 11. The Miners finished with 14 hits and were led by Nick Ulrich who had three hits, three RBIs and scored two runs.Â
Reed Brown (1-0) earned the win for the Miners going 5.2 innings and allowing six hits.Â
Spencer Wilmes (1-1) received the loss.
The Drury baseball team will continue GLVC action at Quincy on Saturday, April 18
th with action starting at noon.
