The 20
th-ranked Drury women's tennis team (8-0) continued its stellar play, with an 8-1 victory against Nebraska-Kearney (3-3), at Cooper Tennis Complex on Friday evening.
The Panthers started out strong in doubles play as
Larissa Karl and
Julia Schepp won the No. 1 doubles match in straight sets 8-4. The doubles pairing of
JiaQing Mo and
Lara Muller posted a strong showing, winning No. 2 doubles, 8-4.
Josephine Jedrychowski and
Chung-Yen Huang earned an 8-6 win in No. 3 doubles.
Karl, the reigning GLVC Player of the Week, proved tough again with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top of the lineup over Sherry Sun. Straight set matches were also clinched by Huang, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, and by Mo at No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-0 score. Drury received a win by default at No. 6.
Both teams earned three-set victories, Kearney 5-7, 6-4(10-7) at No. 4 and Muller for DU by a 6-2, 3-6(10-8) score at No. 2.
Drury is ranked second in the Midwest Regional rankings, and Nebraska-Kearney is fifth respectively in the Central Regional rankings.

The Panthers will welcome the Harding Bisons, to Cooper Tennis Complex, on Sunday with match time set for 12 p.m. Drury will look to match the 2015-16 squad that started the season off with a 9-0 mark.
