KANSAS CITY – The Drury women's tennis team entered Saturday's match in search of momentum in GLVC play, and found it with an 8-1 win over William Jewell.
The Panthers improved to 14-2 overall, and 1-1 in GLVC play for the year, while William Jewell fell to 5-6, 0-1 GLVC.
Drury began the day with a sweep of the doubles against William Jewell, taking all three matches by 8-1 scores.
Josephine Jedrychowski and
Chung-Yen Huang remained a perfect 11-0 on the season with their victory at No. 3.
The Panthers came close to a singles sweep, but were forced to forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Larissa Karl and Huang dominated at the top of the DU lineup, with Karl posting a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1, and Huang taking down Hannah Waine 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Senior Panther
Lara Muller claimed a three set win at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-1(10-5) over Claire MacKay.
The Panthers cruised to wins at No. 4 and 5, with Jedrychowski winning 6-1, 6-2, and
Isabella Melena winning 6-2, 6-0.
"Today we cleaned up some of our play from yesterday, said Drury head coach
Jarrod Smith. "We still have a great deal of Tennis to play and are looking forward to our continuing improvements."
On April 4, Drury will face UMSL in their first GLVC home match, set for a 2 p.m. start at Cooper Tennis Complex.
