Panthers open GLVC tournament vs Bellarmine on Friday in St. Louis

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury women's tennis team opens play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament on Friday in the quarterfinals against Bellarmine in St. Louis, Missouri. Inclement weather has forced the GLVC to adjust the schedule and sites for some of the tournament and the Panthers will now play the Knights at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Sunset Tennis Center. The semifinals are Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center with the championship set for 9 a.m. at the same complex.  
 
The Panthers finished the regular season 18-2 and tied for first in the GLVC-West with a 5-1 league record. Drury is the third seed from the West Division and Bellarmine is the number two seed from the East. The Knights finished 18-4 and 5-1 in the league for the regular season. Friday's match will be the first head-to-head meeting between the two teams this year.
 
The winner of Friday's quarterfinal match will play the winner of Missouri-St. Louis (13-1, 5-1) and Illinois-Springfield (9-9, 3-3) on Sunday in the semifinals.
 
Drury has won seven GLVC tournament championship since joining the conference in 2006. They last won the crown in 2014.
