Panther Women’s Tennis Beats Harding 7-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Drury women's tennis team made quick work of Harding, beating the Bisons 7-2, Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex.

12th-ranked Drury improved to 3-0 and Harding suffered their first loss of the season and dropped to 4-1.

Drury's doubles team of Larissa Karl and Chung-Yen Huang defeated Layra Golubic and Arisa Takanashi, 8-2.

At No. 2 doubles, the Harding duo of Gabriella Alves and Hana Folse shutout JiaQing Mo and Julia Schepp 8-0, while Josephine Jedrychowski and Viktoriya Zheleva earned an 8-2 victory over Emily Faulkner and Jordan Shaw to make it a 2-1 Drury lead.

In singles play, Jedrychowski made quick work of Paulina Kostka at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2, with Mo also showing a dominant effort over Folse, 6-2, 6-2.  At No. 6. Schepp won her opening set 6-3, then put away Faulkner 6-2 in the second set.  The top of the Panther lineup also recorded wins with Karl taking down Alves 6-2, 6-3 and Huang getting past Golubic 6-4, 6-7, 5-2.

Harding claimed their victory at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.  Takanshi won in three sets at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 over Zheleva.

On February 11th, Drury will play host to Nebraska-Kearney at Cooper Tennis Complex at 10:15 a.m.
