12th Ranked Drury Women’s Tennis Downs Washburn 8-1 in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The 12th ranked Drury women's tennis team opened the season with a 8-1 victory over Washburn Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex.

Doubles dominance was the theme for the Panthers in a clean sweep over the Ichabods. Chung-Yen Huang and Larissa Karl downed Alexis Czapinski and Logan Morrissey 8-2. JiaQing Mo and Julia Schepp, and Josephine Jedrychowski and Viktoriya Zheleva both triumphed with 8-3 and 8-1 victories respectively.

The Panthers earned a three-set victory by Karl and posted wins in four of the next five matches to claim the win. Washburn pulled out a three-set win at No. 3 singles.

On February 4th, Drury will play host to McKendree at Cooper Tennis Complex at 10:15 a.m.
