SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury University women's bowling team opens play in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament on Friday against Elmhurst at the Fox Bowl in Wheaton, Illinois.
The Panthers are seeded fourth in the double-elimination tournament while Elmhurst in the number five seed. The Baker-format match starts at 8:30 a.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals to face top-seeded McKendree at approximately 10:30 a.m. The loser will play either Central Missouri, Maryville or Lincoln in an elimination round at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
McKendree is the top seed, and the Bearcats are ranked second in the nation. Central Missouri is the number two seed and ranked 10th while Maryville is third in the bracket and ranked 21st. Lincoln (Mo.) is seeded sixth.
This season marks the second year for women's bowling in the MIAA and the second season for the Panthers women's bowling program to compete in the NCAA. The MIAA tournament continues through Saturday.
