DU women's tennis wins at home over William Jewell 8-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The 14th ranked Drury Panthers improved to 12-1 and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with an 8-1 win over William Jewell on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
Drury, playing without nationally ranked singles player and senior Larissa Karl, won all three doubles matches. JiaQing Mo and Julia Schepp won their match 8-1 as did Viktoriya Zheleva and Josephine Jedrychowski.
 
Zheleva took over as the Panthers lead singles player and won her match-up against Claire Mackay 7-6, 6-1. Jedrychowski swept her opponent, Becca Richison, 6-0, 6-0 as Drury won five of the six singles matches.
 
The loss dropped William Jewell's record to 6-12 and 2-2 in the GLVC.
 
Drury is home again on Saturday as they host Rockhurst on Senior Day. The men's and women's matches get underway at 1 p.m. on the indoor courts of the Cooper Tennis Complex.
