Panthers win Senior Day match over Rockhurst 5-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The 14th ranked Drury Panthers won their Senior Day game with a 5-0 win over Rockhurst on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
Drury improved to 13-1 and 4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Rockhurst dropped to 9-6 and took their first conference loss to fall to 3-1 in the league.
 
The Panthers started with three doubles wins and senior Larissa Karl, who missed yesterday's match against William Jewell, returned with a pair of wins. Karl and doubles partner Chung-Yen Huang defeated Anilu Barraza and Samantha Czarnecki 8-3, then Karl won her singles match over Czarnecki 6-2, 6-1.
 
Karl, the team's lone senior, improved to 9-2 in singles this season with her win. She is currently ranked 15th nationally in Division II singles play.
 
Drury plays again on Tuesday at 12th ranked Southwest Baptist. The match begins at 2 p.m. in Bolivar.
