COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Drury indoor track & field teams won a pair of events and had several athletes place high at the Mizzou Open, a non-scoring meet held at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Men's Highlights
Sophomore
Brendan Bena won the mile run with a time of 4:24.70 and finished with the sixth-best mark in program history. Bena won the event 0.65 seconds over Carlos Guzman of MidAmerica Nazarene.
Matt Moler finished third in the same event and had the eighth-best time ever at Drury (4:25.69).
Moler also came in second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.7 and the freshman from Midwest City, Oklahoma was just two seconds off the winning pace.
John Schupbach broke his own Drury record in the triple jump. The freshman from Monett finished fourth with a school record jump of 13.40 meters.
Chaaz Ferguson-Cooper was fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.89), and
Trevor Johnson advanced to the finals of the 60-meter dash and came in eighth with a time of 7.16.
Drury's 4x400 meter relay team came in third and had a fourth-best time in team history as Ferguson-Cooper, Bena,
Liam Lynch, and
Jalen Shaw combined for a time of 3:35.22.
Women's Highlights
Sophomore
Claire McCune won the mile run and shattered her own school record at Friday's meet. The Springfield native completed the race in 5:00.74 to win the event by nearly eight seconds and she broke Drury's record by nine seconds. McCune's time is also a provisional qualifying time to the NCAA-II national indoor track & field championship and will be adjusted to 4:57 to account for the 200-meter flat track.
Ia Vidal was fifth in the same event as the freshman from Spain had a time of 5:25.67.
McCune also had a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run crossing the line in 2:25.73.
Kayleigh Eberhardt finished third in the triple jump as the freshman from DeSoto, Missouri completed a jump of 10.26 meters.
Autumn Green advanced to the finals in the 60-meter dash and came in fifth with a time of 8.18.

th Annual Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State.
