Elizabeth Stinson wins 5000-meters; Liam Lynch takes 4th in 400 m. hurdles at Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG, Mo.– Drury freshman Elizabeth Stinson won the 5,000 runs, while Liam Lynch came in fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Outdoor Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri in Warrensburg on Friday. Both the Drury men's and women's track & field squads featured a limited roster with Friday's cold and rainy conditions.
 
Women's Highlights
Elizabeth Stinson won the 5,000-meter run. The freshman from Liberty, Missouri, finished first in the field of 34 runners posting a time of 18:03.51. She won the event by more an 11 seconds, and her time is the fifth-fastest in program history. Maddie Bennett finished eighth in the event with a time of 18:34.24.
 
Drury got a sixth-place and eighth-place finish in the javelin. Jolie McClellen was sixth with a throw of 37.87 meters, and Sabrina Lane came in eighth (35.45 meters).
 
Men's Highlights
Liam Lynch was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles. Lynch, a junior from Springfield-Kickapoo, completed in the event 56.83 seconds, a time that ranks third all-time at Drury.
 
Brendan Bena finished fifth among 52 runners in the 1500-meter run. The junior from Jefferson City posted a time of 3:56.29, the third-best time in program history. Jacob Decker was 24th in the event with a time of 4:15.89.
 
Sean Lowry gave the Panthers a ninth-place finish in the 5000-meter run, a field that featured 46 runners. Lowry's time of 15:00.68 is the third-time mark ever at Drury. Will Kershaw was 14th in the event with a time of 15:20.36, and Matt Moler was right behind him in 15th (15:20.66). 
 
 
The Drury track & field teams compete again next weekend in the Dick Cochran Invitational, hosted by Lindenwood, on April 24 in St. Charles, Missouri.
