ST. CHARLES, Mo.– Drury sophomore
Sabrina Lane won the javelin throw at the Dick Cochran Classic hosted by Lindenwood in St. Charles, Missouri, on Saturday. The Panthers men's and women's track & field teams competed in their fifth outdoor meet of the spring season, and, in addition, to Lane's win, Jake Bias set a team record in the long jump.
Women's Highlights
Drury's
Sabrina Lane won the javelin event with a throw of 36.05 meters. The sophomore from Kansas City, Missouri, outdistanced the next closest competitor by 0.37 meters, and her throw is the second-longest in program history. The Panthers also had Lawrence Halstyn finish fourth (33.66) and
Jolie McClellan finish fifth (32.51) in the same event.
Ashley Childers came in second in the 400-meter dash as the freshman from Ozark, Arkansas, was just 0.72 seconds behind the winning time. Her time of 1:00.59 ranks fourth in program history at Drury.
Imani Brown was also second in the high jump. The freshman from Munster, Indiana, cleared 1.55 meters. Brown also ran the 200-meter dash and was sixth with a time of 26.06.
Drury finished 2-3-4 in the 10,000-meter run as Annabel White came in second with a time of 40:20.19, Jayme Sue-Vermaas was third (41:25.11), and
Nina Spitzhorn was fourth (41:40.03).
Felicia Sheil gave the Panthers a third-place finish in the triple jump, and her leap of 10.19 meters is fourth-best on the Drury record books.
Men's Highlights
Jake Bias set a team record in the long jump posting a distance of 6.61 meters. The senior from St. John's, Florida, finished fourth in the event and also returned for a fifth-place finish in the triple jump landing a jump of 12.82 meters.
Trevor Johnson gave the Panthers a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.62. The mark is the third-fastest time in team history.
Jeremiah Ellison came in 12
th in the same event for Drury with a time of 52.14.
Drury finished third, fourth, fifth, and sixth in a field of 34 runners in the 1500-meter run.
Brendan Bena led the pack of Panthers (4:00.94) and was third, while Will Kershaw was fourth (4:02.43),
Matt Moler was fifth (4:04.56), and
Sean Lowry was sixth (4:04.87).
Moler was later seventh in the 800-meter run (1:59.24), and Lowery came in eighth (2:00.13).
Jacob Decker came in sixth in the 10,000-meter run. His time of 32:28.75 is the fifth-best time in program history.
