Panthers compete in program's first wrestling competition

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury competed in the first wrestling competition in program history on Sunday in the Dan Harris Open at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.
 
The first participant ever to represent Drury on the mat was Cory Pych, a junior from Bartlett, Illinois. Pych, competing in the 157-pound class, pinned his opponent in his opening round match.
 
John Oss, a sophomore from Ozark, won the 184-pound division as he went 4-0, winning each by fall. Lawyer Morgan-Beckum finished 2nd in 141 and Ben Melton had a third place finish in the heavyweight class.
 
Drury competes again on Saturday at the Kaufman-Brand Open hosted by Maryville University next Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri.
