DUBUQUE, Iowa – Drury wrestling had Grant Taylor finish fourth and Ben Melton finish fifth at the Pat Flanagan Open hosted by Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday.
 
The Panthers had two attached competitors in the tournament and both went deep in their brackets.
 
Taylor, a freshman from Deepwater, Missouri competing at 165 pounds, defeated Gabe Pleasants of Loras College 6-3 before losing to Iowa University's Skyler St. John in the semifinals, 8-2. Taylor won his next match, 6-4, over Michael Belanger of Wisconsin-Platteville and lost in the 3^rd place match to Logan Breitenbach of Iowa State by technical fall.
 
Heavyweight Ben Melton bounced back from a first round loss to Northern Iowa's Carter Isley, 10-3, and won his next two matches. The Nixa native beat Tyler Pasker from UW-Platteville 5-1 and pinned Darien Kaufmann of Northern Illinois in the next round. After losing a tie-breaker to Ross Sealby (Northern Illinois), Melton was awarded fifth place in a medical forfeit to end the day.
 
The Panthers wrestling squad competes again in the Midwest Duals hosted by Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Jan. 14.
