The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events but the special games and moments we'll always associate with 2021-22.
Â
We'll provide honorable mention selections later in the countdown, but, for now, here is our fifth entry from 2021-22:
Â
#8 – Katie McCune becomes DU's first All-American in indoor track & field Â
Â
March 12, 2022 – Pittsburg, Kan. Â
It marked the first time in more than a decade that Drury had sent anyone to the NCAA-II Indoor Track & Field National Championships as Katie McCune and Claire McCune both qualified for the national meet in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Â
While Claire McCune just missed the finals in the mile, Katie managed to advance in 800-meters turning in a time of 2:09.34 to finish third in her preliminary heat.
Â
The next day, she made history for Drury finishing seventh in the event to become the program's first-ever All-American in indoor track & field. The Springfield native ran the finals in 2:10.09.
