Drury Dozen- the top 12 moment's of '19-20: #4- Conley Garrison scores 38 points as DU rallies past UIS

8/11/2020 7:10:00 PM

The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events, but the special games and moments that we'll always associate with 2019-20.

The most significant moment, obviously, came on Mar. 11 when the sports world stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That halt robbed us of games and accomplishments that would have likely taken up several spots on this list.

We can take pride in the fact, however, that even though the year was cut short, what happened between Sept. 1, 2019, and Mar. 10, 2020, provided so many great moments in a variety of sports that it was still difficult to trim the list to just 12.

#4- Conley Garrison pours in 38 points on Overflow Day vs. Illinois Springfield

Feb. 8, 2020 – O'Reilly Family Event Center

It's uncanny how something spectacular always happens on Overflow the O' day. The 2020 game gave a big crowd another great show as Conley Garrison scored 38 points as the Panthers rallied past Illinois Springfield 86-78.

Drury needed nearly every one of his 38 tallies. After the Panthers scored the game's first basket to take a 2-0 lead, Drury wouldn't see the lead again until there was 7:28 remaining in regulation. Four lead changes later, the Panthers took the lead for good in the final three minutes and pulled away to win by eight.

Garrison, meanwhile, went 13 for 21 from the field and 7 for 7 from the free throw line. His 38 points were the most scored by a Drury player in a single game since Collins Harris' 42-point game on Jan. 3, 2006 against Central Oklahoma.
