The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events, but the special games and moments that we'll always associate with 2019-20.
Â
The most significant moment, obviously, came on Mar. 11 when the sports world stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That halt robbed us of games and accomplishments that would have likely taken up several spots on this list.Â
Â
We can take pride in the fact, however, that even though the year was cut short, what happened between Sept. 1, 2019, and Mar. 10, 2020, provided so many great moments in a variety of sports that it was still difficult to trim the list to just 12.Â
Â
We'll provide honorable mention selections later in the countdown, but, for now, here is our fourth entry from 2019-20:Â
Â
#6 – DU women's swimming & diving wins fourth straight GLVC title
Â
Feb. 16, 2020 – Crawfordsville, Ind.
Â
The points race grew closer, but the dominance continued for the Drury women's swimming & diving team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference as the Panthers won their fourth straight league title. Drury finished with 1,727 points and edged Indianapolis, who finished with 1,653, and Lindenwood was a close third with 1,599 points.
Â
Erica Dahlgren helped the Panthers clinch the title as she started the final night winning the 1,650 Free by nearly five seconds. The senior from Sweden completed the event in 16:42.96, breaking the record set by teammate
Allison Weber, who finished second with a time of 16:47.36. Drury's
Karianne Reinertsen was fourth (16:59.42), and freshman Marina Amorin was sixth (17:04.37).
Â
Bailee Nunn also picked up a win on the final night, taking the 200 Breaststroke. The championship was Nunn's fourth individual title of the championship meet
Â
Drury won the first eight events of the meet, covering the first two days of the competition.
Â
Dahlgren would go to be named the GLVC Women's Swimmer of the Year as the Panthers took, not only their fourth championship in a row, it was the program's six GLVC crown in seven seasons.
