Arnold "A.J." White is considered by many to be one of the best athletes ever to wear a Drury basketball uniform. The graduate of Webster Groves High School in St. Louis helped the 1981 and 1983 Drury teams to the NAIA national tournament and two NAIA District 16 titles. In his four years at Drury the Panthers were 83-44 and even though his 1984 team was upset in the NAIA District 16 tournament, it may have been the best of the four teams that "A.J." played on. That team included fellow Drury hall-of-famers Marc Ridlen, Tom Deffebaugh and Ted Young. The 1984 team was the top team in District 16 all season and was nationally-ranked. "A.J." concluded his career having earned NAIA All-America honors and twice being named to the NAIA All-District team. His 1,076 points places him 27th on the Drury all-time scoring list and he is 14th on the all-time rebound list. Upon his graduation, "A.J." had several tryouts for the NBA before enjoying a stellar career in several foreign basketball leagues.
