After 92 years of men's basketball at Drury, the player who has scored more points than any other is Lonnie Holmes, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. But it was not only his individual accomplishments that separated Holmes from the rest, it was also the fact that his teams won. In his four years at Drury, Holmes led the Panthers to a four-year record of 86-34. Drury played in two NAIA national tournaments, making it to the quarterfinals in 1994...and it was Lonnie who nearly led the Panthers to the NCAA-II National Tournament in their first year as members of the NCAA (1995). The school's all-time leading scorer with 2,341 points and its third all-time leading rebounder with 925 rebounds, Lonnie was a two-time NAIA All-American and he is the only Drury basketball player to earn NCAA-II All-American honors by earning Third Team honors according to Basketball Times and the NCAA-II Sports Information Directors Association. His jersey #40 was retired in 1995.
