Jason Owen was a team captain on the Drury men's swimming & diving national championship team in 2002-03, was a four-time letterman, and earned 15 NCAA-II All-American awards. In his freshman season, he won the national championship in the 1650 Free, and won another national title on the 800 Free Relay team.

Owen was named Drury's Most Valuable Swimmer in his junior year, and he helped the Panthers to two national runner-up finishes and a third-place finish at nationals in addition to the 2003 national championship.

After receiving a degree in Exercise Science from Drury in 2003, he served as a graduate assistant coach for two years, then spent four years with the Panthers as a full-time assistant coach. During his time on the coaching staff, Drury won eight straight men's national championships and three women's national titles.

Owen became the head coach of the Lindenwood men's and women's swimming & diving program and has led those squads to national prominence, with both finishing in the top five of Division II in 2021.
