Drury University Athletics

Charlie Campbell graduated from Drury with an A.B. Degree in physical education on May 26, 1957. While at Drury, Charlie competed in track and tennis, but it was in the sport of basketball for which he was most recognized. He was a two-year varsity letterman in basketball at Drury after graduating from Southwest Baptist junior College in 1953 and serving two years in the armed services, one in Korea. He was voted Drury's Outstanding Athlete in 1957 and earned his Master's Degree from Drury in 1963. Now recognized in the nation, Charlie spent 15 years as a teacher/coach at Forsyth (Mo.) High Shcool upon his graduation from Drury. He coached track, volleyball, baseball and basketball at Forsyth with his 1973 basketball team claiming the MSHSAA Class "S" state title.
