Jim Yount was only the fifth male swimmer in Drury's storied swimming history to be inducted into the Hall-of-Fame. In the 31 years of the program, no one was more dominant for four years than this native of Champaign, Illinois. He was a force for the Drury swimming team from the first day he arrived on campus scoring 28 points at his first NAIA national meet. The next year he scored 59.5 points at the national meet and as a junior he scored 48.5 points. As a senior he was truly the dominant force at the 1981 NAIA national meet, earning team MVP honors. He spearheaded the Panther assault which culminated with a team national championship...the program's first. He was a team co-captain his sophomore, junior and senior years and was a multiple national champion, multiple All-American and multiple national record holder. At the time of his graduation Jim was a part of three Drury record-setting relay teams and was the program's record-holder in the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle events.
