Marcus Peel joins the list of Drury "greats" to be inducted in the sport of basketball. Marcus is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He played two seasons at Drury after transferring from Tulsa University. Marcus helped lead Drury to post-season play in 1980 and 1981 with the '81 team advancing to the NAIA National Tournament and finishing with a 19-12 final record. For his efforts he earned NAIA All-American honors (Honorable Mention) that year. During his two years at Drury Marcus helped Drury defeat crosstown rival, Southwest Missouri State University, twice with his performance at Hammons Student Center on February 26, 1981 being considered by many to be one of the most impressive individual performances every turned in by a Panther basketball player. The Panthers won that night, 97-96 in overtime, with Marcus leading all scorers with 27 points. Marcus graduated from Drury on May 9, 1982 with a degree in physical education and secondary education.
