The first tennis player to be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, Gretchen Prather came to Drury from Liberty, Missouri where she was named the Kansas City area prep Scholar/Athlete of-the-Year her senior year by the Kansas City Star. Gretchen graduated cum laude from Drury on May 6, 1990 with a business administration major. In her four years at Drury she played #1 on the women's tennis team and twice won District 16 tennis titles in singles and doubles, leading the team to two NAIA national tournaments. She was also a NAIA Scholar-Athlete twice and was recognized nationally by Volvo as a student/athlete.
